Parking

Off-street parking is on the East end (Sanctuary end), on the South side (for other rooms), and West end (time-shared with the city bus company, a park-n-ride lot during the week).

Enter the parking lot areas on the East end. One way traffic on the narrower South side reduces congestion and is safer for all foot traffic - particularly our young children.

Inside Layout

The floor of the Sanctuary is six steps lower than the rest of the building complex.
The basement under the Sanctuary is called Lower Level 2 and the basement under the Office Complex/Westwood Room is called Lower Level 1.
The elevator provides access to all four levels.
The Youth Rooms under the Sanctuary have been called the Storm Cellar. Those rooms, and the Choir Room are areas safe from tornadoes. The area under the middle of the sanctuary, is not safe.

Lower Levels

Construction in the Lower Levels caused some name changes in October, 2004 for the Sunday School.

Lower Level 1 (used to be the Community Room) has been subdivided into rooms that have been renamed for the Pathway Adventures Sunday School experience: Pathway Cinema (Theatre), Bible Bytes (Computer Lab), and Create in Me (Crafts Room).

The center of Lower Level 2 (used to be the CLC) has been subdivided into rooms that have been renamed for the Pathway Adventures Sunday School experience: Boma (Story Telling Room), Gospel Games (Games) Room, Spirit Stage (Drama) Room, Bread of Life (Science/Food) Room, and Westwood Waters (Music) Room.

The old drawing on the left shows:

a Music Room at the bottom. That room always has been, and will continue to be, called the Choir Room.
The Youth Rooms at the top are now just the Youth Room

Something For Everybody! One of the most valuable resources available for members of Westwood Church is the Library. This extensive collection of books, videos and audio cassettes includes something of interest and spiritual value for everyone.

If you need information-not only for religious matters-there are dictionaries of various sorts, atlases, encyclopedias, histories, and commentaries on the Bible.

For inspiration there are prayer and devotional books, books on living the Christian Life and life stories of many notable, fascinating people. If you want something for relaxation, there are old and new novels, dramas, poetry and even "humor."

There are picture books and read-to-me books for small children; storybooks for older children; devotions and books on many subjects of interest to teens; and adult material on every kind of topic. Stop in the library and find what it has that will meet your interests and concerns.

Operation

The library is open Monday through Friday during the day and Sunday between services. A Library Ministry Team member is typically available to help during weekdays and Sunday mornings.

The library has two wings, East and West. The East wing houses all children and parent oriented materials including science, art, literature and health. The West wing houses all religion, biographies, history, adult fiction, reference books, and periodicals. The West wing has a card catalog for ALL the books, videos. The Dewey system is used in cataloging materials.

Books can be checked out for one month; videos for one week. DVDs are available for the weekly church service. All items can be renewed at any time.

Instructions for checking out materials are located in both wings. There is a "return books" bin in each wing and another by the middle South entrance to the building (opposite the Deck).

Note: The church library is very open - it depends on each user making sure the Library Ministry Team is aware of materials that have been checked out - and then returned. There are no fines for late returns - but be considerate of others who may be waiting for the material.

Please check for any of these Missing Books. (When looking at a number of books in your home, library books have white codings on the spine near the bottom. Our books have "Westwood Lutheran Church Library" stamped on the title page, and usually on the edging of the closed book.)

Other

Book donations are welcome. Donations that cannot be used at Westwood are passed on to other churches organizations. Monetary donations are always accepted to maintain the library. Gifts of books in memorial or honor of a loved one are also accepted.  Here is a list of recent Gifts.

Contact the library at 952-767-5581 or via library@westwoodlutheran.org.
